Sydney’s Pinky Tuscadero are passionate about performing their electrified pop with spunk, charm and maximum vitality. They specialise in plugging in and plugging out piano-driven neo-cabaret, with this delightful disc your front row ticket. ?Frank Sinatra? opens the show – not a limp Miss Kittin cover but rather a camp ?n? catchy pop stomper featuring snake-charming sax trills, gutsy-as-F wailing courtesy of Hayley Foster and one of the most insistent three-note riffs of 2006. Simply put, ?Priscilla? is a killer! Bass and lead guitar, economically played, build to a fiery chorus charged with truly sexual energy. ?Maneating Plant? spotlights Foster’s spidery, operatic vocal. Like Nina Hagen, she is a strong and deadly vocalist who understands the expressive potential of the human voice – the way it can soar, hovering just to crack into almost percussive timbres. That monumental riff from ?Frank Sinatra? is reprised in the cleverly titled closer ?Nancy? – a fitting curtain call for a band who deserve to take a bow.
